Kiridara Hotel

Deep within the mountains of northern Laos lies the old royal capital of Luang Prabang, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of temples and colonial French mansions. And just on the outskirts of town is Kiridara Hotel, overlooking the sacred Mount Phou Si.

It’s hard to miss Kiridara Hotel from a distance, with its distinctive architecture hugging the hilly landscape. The hotel itself has been through several changes of ownership, and now under the guidance of French general manager Yannis, is rediscovering its authentic Laotian roots once more. With just twenty-six rooms and suites, it’s unexpectedly intimate for a hotel this size; an effect intensified by the terraced layout that ensures prime views and privacy for every room. The piece-de-resistance however is the jaw-dropping infinity pool and deck; easily one of the most impressive in town. An excellent spa, terrace bar and a restaurant serving upscale Laotian and European fare complete the overall package — everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in one of South-East Asia’s most beautiful towns.

What to Know

  • The breathtaking infinity pool is the only one of its kind in Luang Prabang, with some of the best views in town.
  • The thoughtful design ensures that every room enjoys great privacy and magnificent views overlooking the city.
  • Despite the location outside the city centre, the hotel’s complimentary tuk-tuk shuttle service is one of the most convenient ways to get around.

  • Given its hilly setting, Kiridara Hotel is not for the unfit. You’ll need to climb four flights of stairs to get from the bottom of the hotel to the very top, where the spa is located.
  • The indoor restaurant setting feels a tad corporate, although efforts are underway to create a more authentic experience.
